Opportunity and InitiativeBy Joel Block
That precise situation occurred in my business in the last several days. You might have noticed that our blog had a temporary technical glitch that we could not fix. We called everybody who we could think of to help us solve the problem - to no avail. We just didn't know how to move forward to solve this problem. We called Blog Experts and we called our web host, but none could figure out why we were having the problems that we were having.
Then, four days ago, I received an e-mail from a stranger. The person identified himself as a computer programmer who had a team of computer experts and they had noticed that my blog was acting in an erratic way. They told me that they recognized the problem right away and that they knew how to solve it. I was quick to respond and asked them to provide us with an immediate proposal for services. I also let him know that I was very much appreciative of the initiative that he had taken to get in touch with us. How fortuitous that this gentleman contacted me. Not only was his firm professional, and an expert in solving the problem that he promised to solve, but most important, as an entrepreneur, I commend this fellow entrepreneur for identifying an opportunity for a piece of business and then jumping on it. He took the initiative to contact me to offer to solve the problem. Thousands of people read my blog several times a week, and yet he was the only one who took the initiative to ask if we have a problem. He let me know that he could fix it. He wanted to do it. Then he sent us a proposal. As it turns out, this company not only does computer programming, but they build web sites and they have an impressive list of clients. If you have a need, call this guy. Carlos Hernandez I like doing business with people who take initiative. I like doing business with people who jump on opportunities and who take action immediately to get an outstanding result. I recommend the services of this firm without hesitation. It is not often that I make this kind of endorsement and I certainly rarely leave a phone number and address or contact information for my readers to review. But in this case I want to put it out there and I want to say thank you to Carlos and his team who identified an opportunity and took the initiative for their own benefit, but helped me tremendously along the way. So, as you are working hard every day to build your company, or as you're building your career, be on the lookout for opportunities, but also be prepared to take initiative. Take action and take that action right now. In fact, if you aren't prepared to take immediate action, there isn't much reason to look for opportunities, is there?
