Merix Announces Completion of Huiyang, China Expansion

Merix Corporation (NASDAQ: MERX), a leading provider of advanced high-reliability printed circuit boards, today announced that an expansion and technology upgrade in their Huiyang, China (HY) factory is complete. Over the past two years, Merix has invested over $23 million in the HY expansion. The result is a 400 thousand square foot facility that has roughly three times the inner-layer manufacturing capacity when compared to a year ago.

The Merix HY facility can manufacture approximately 80% of the standard multilayer technology produced in Merix' higher technology North American factories. The installation of advanced manufacturing equipment combined with the process engineering expertise allows for the precise mechanical registration and high quality for which Merix is known in the industry. In conjunction with Merix' North American footprint, the expansion creates a unique and differentiated service offering of prototype and pre-production capabilities in North American factories that can be seamlessly transitioned to lower cost volume production in China.

"The strategy we embarked upon fifteen months ago has become a reality," said Michael D. Burger, President and CEO of Merix Corporation. "When combined with our recently completed global ERP system, we believe that this expansion uniquely equips Merix to provide our customers exceptional value through cost and time-to-market reduction while retaining Merix' reputation for high-reliability."
