Trane Launches First High Performance Systems Portfolio for K-12 Schools at U.S. Green Building Council's GreenBuild in Boston- Web-based tool tells owners, designers and specifiers how to design a K-12 school for LEED credit based upon region of U.S. - BOSTON, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Specifiers and school engineers attending the U.S. Green Building Council's International Conference and Expo inBoston, will be the first to try Trane's new "High Performance Systems Portfolio for K-12 Schools."

The High Performance Systems Portfolio is the first and only web-based tool available at www.trane.com/K12Systems that identifies the right heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) type to earn Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) points for schools. A specifier or school engineer simply inputs the school building's locations and requirements, and in return, receives the most efficient design for a Trane system that includes product family and model numbers. The Trane systems in the database all meet the Advanced Energy Guide recommendations. "It offers a collection of customized zone pages that make it easy for specifiers and school engineers to pick the right systems for their buildings based upon geography and other requirements like building type, acoustics and student outcomes," said The U.S. Green Building Council created the LEED for Schools Rating System as a benchmark for green schools, to ensure that schools are healthy for students, comfortable for teachers and cost-effective. Because design for K-12 school buildings is unique, the LEED for Schools system addresses issues such as classroom acoustics, master planning, mold prevention and environmental site assessment. "Early involvement in HVAC design can earn schools up to 28 LEED for Schools points and a tool like the High Performance Systems Portfolio makes it easier to do it," said Lally.
