SABESP's Net Operating Revenue Grows 6.8% in 3Q08

In 3Q08, net operating revenue totaled R$ 1.6 billion, a 6.8% increase compared to 3Q07. Costs and expenses, stood at R$ 1.1 billion, 15.4% higher than in 3Q07. EBITDA fell by 4.8%, from R$ 732.8 million in 3Q07 to R$ 697.4 million in 3Q08.

Earnings before financial expenses (EBIT) dropped 6.9%, from R$ 577.0 million in 3Q07 to R$ 537.1 million in this quarter.

In 3Q08, gross operating revenue grew R$ 105.2 million, or 6.5%, from R$ 1.6 billion in 3Q07 to R$ 1.7 billion in 3Q08. The main reasons for this increase were the: (i) 3.89% increase in 3Q08 from the 4.1% tariff adjustment as of September 2007; (ii) 0.2% increase from the 5.1% tariff adjustment as of September 2008; and (iii) 2.5% growth in billed water and sewage volume, 2.6% of which corresponded to retail, and 2.2% to wholesale.
