A shareholder class action lawsuit has been filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of New York against certain officers and directors of Hardinge, Inc. ("Hardinge" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: HDNG) on behalf of purchasers of Hardinge stock who purchased between February 22, 2007 and February 21, 2008.

The lawsuit alleges the defendants violated the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by making false and misleading public statements concerning the Company's financial condition. Specifically, the complaint alleges the defendants failed to disclose that the Company was experiencing slowing sales due to outdated machinery and failed to timely record an impairment in the value of Hardinge's inventory.
