By Fayaz Wani

Srinagar, Nov 18: At least eight soldiers including two officers are missing after an Indian army post was hit by a snow avalanche in North Kashmir.

Police sources told NewsBlaze that an Indian army post was hit by an avalanche at Kanzarvan, Gurez close to frontiers with Pakistan in North Kashmir on Monday evening. "At least eight soldiers including two officers were carried away by the avalanche," sources said.

They said that three porters have also gone missing and a rescue operation has been launched to trace them. They said the rescue operation is being hampered due to bad weather.

Kashmir experienced heavy snowfall on Friday last and more than 6 feet of snow was recorded in some upper reaches.
