Brixx Plans to Open Dozens of New Restaurants
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Restaurants and Institutions
identified Brixx Wood Fired Pizza as one of 10 emerging chains to track. The
Charlotte-based chain's wood-fired oven, which gives the pizza its signature
taste, and the inexpensive menu are cited as reasons for the restaurant's
success.
Restaurants and Institutions notes that smart expansion plans and a clear
differentiation from competition allow chains to grow, even in a down economy.
This has proven true for Brixx, which plans to open more than 50 restaurants
in the next five years, bringing its successful concept and franchise
opportunities to more neighborhoods throughout the South.
Brixx has 13 locations and expects to grow to 18 by the end of 2009, with
longer-term plans to open dozens more. Brixx opened inCharlotte in 1998 and
partnered with McAlister's Deli Co-Founder Neil Newcomb in 2007 to create
Brixx Franchise Systems, LLC. The venture opened the door for qualified
business people to join the Brixx family and help the restaurant grow.
"Brixx's success is built on simple, smooth operations and a high-quality
menu that provides great value to the customer at reasonable operating costs
for the owner," Newcomb said. "This formula will allow Brixx to continue
expanding throughout the region, despite the uncertainty of the economy."
Brixx has three franchise locations -- its newest opened Nov. 10 in
Wilmington, N.C. Brixx plans to open franchises inWinston-Salem, N.C., and
Knoxville, Tenn., in 2009.
In addition to the franchises, Brixx opened a company-owned restaurant in
August inHendersonville, Tenn. Another company-owned location is scheduled to
open next spring inAsheville, N.C.
The average Brixx restaurant is 3,200 to 3,400 square feet and employs 40
to 50 people. The restaurants are famous for their wood-burning ovens and 24
beers on tap.
The menu includes a variety of specialty pizzas, as well as salads made
with fresh greens, sandwiches served on daily-baked focaccia bread, pasta
dishes and desserts. The restaurants also serve 14 wines by the glass.
An environmentally friendly company, Brixx recycles all possible paper and
glass products. Brixx Wood Fired Pizza is owned by New South Pizza Inc.
