FORWARD OPERATING BASE JUSTICE, Iraq - Lt. Col. John Vermeesch, commander, 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Multi-National Division-Baghdad, and Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey Smith, 1st CAB, 18th Inf. Regt. command sergeant major, salute Lt. Col. Joseph McLamb, commander, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and Sgt. Maj. Troy Henderson, 1st Bn., 502nd Inf. Regt. operations sergeant major, during a transfer of authority ceremony held at Forward Operating Base Justice in northwest Baghdad.

The "Vanguards" of 1st CAB, 18th Inf.
