Joy to the World: 'Tis the Season for Lovely Hair

"Holiday hair is about dramatic presentation," says Kenneth Darrell, who is commonly known as KD, "The Hair Guy." "Whether it's up-dos or sets, pump up the animation!"

KD raced motorcycles as a teenager and was also a Harley-Davidson mechanic, but now his tools of trade are brushes, scissors, shampoos, curling irons and hair dryers. He has spent 23 years in the hair business and risen to the top of his profession. This Tennessean performs miracles with hair, often showing off his skills on stage.

He has a TV show and a book in development. If the combination reality/talk TV show has the success KD believes it will, he'll take hair-on-the-air to new heights.

But for now, KD is putting his efforts into the holiday season with advice to women everywhere: "No need to spend many hours and several dollars at a beauty salon for that special holiday event. Many fantastic holiday hairstyles can be accomplished at home." He adds, "If it's an up-do, accessorize with an ornamental barrette or 'hair jewelry,'" KD says. "Put some BLING in your hair, girl. If you're wearing the 'do down, well then dust off those hot rollers (yep, those!) -- and fluff up your style.

"Holidays give you the right to be a card-carrying member of the Big Hair Club. Simply follow a diagonal sectioning on the top, working in the direction of the part, with horizontal sectioning on the sides. Let 'em cool completely, drop 'em, and loosen them up with a blow dryer to taste."
