The All Parties Adhoc Committee for Kashmiri Peoples Right
The All Parties Adhoc Committee for Kashmiri Peoples Right of Self-Determination comprising 15 political parties of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, has appealed to international community to persuade India and Pakistan to concede to over 17 million people of Jammu Kashmir State, their inherent, internationally recognized and pledged right to determine the political, constitutional and geographical status of the entire Jammu Kashmir State.
This appeal has been made in a memorandum sent to heads of diplomatic missions in India and Pakistan by Mr Amanullah Khan, Convener of the Committee through registered mail, email or fax. Copies of the appeal have also been sent to the representatives at the UN of 5 permanent members and of some other countries. A brochure containing details of the pledges and commitments of India and Pakistan to let Kashmiris determine their own future has been attached to the memorandum.
It has been said in the appeal that as the contents of the attached brochure were fully evident, both India and Pakistan had declared publicly, in their letters to each other and to the world body and above all to Kashmiri people, as also agreed under resolutions of the UN Security Council and of UN Commission on Kashmir, that the people of the entire Jammu Kashmir State would be opportuned to determine their own future in accordance with their freely expressed will.
India, after dilly dallying implementation of the resolution and commitment on one excuse or the other for about a decade started claiming of Kashmir to be her integral and constitutional part and continues to do so. Pakistan, on the other hand continued pressing for implementation of UN resolutions but has of late started presenting solutions not based on the right of Kashmiri people to determine their own future. She has also agreed that the governments of India and Pakistan and not the people of Kashmir should determine their future. The behind-the-scene Indo-Pak parleys on Kashmir also ignore Kashmiris altogether.
The memorandum says that it was height of injustice that about 17 million politically conscious, well educated and self-respectful and above all, more in number than the individual populations of as many as 134 UN member countries, were kept deprived of their inherent, universally recognised and solemnly and publicly pledged right to determine their own future and has called upon the comity of nations to take steps conducive to persuading India and Pakistan to give to Kashmiris what in their due.
