Street & Smith's Sports Group Announces New Publisher for Motorsports Publications

Michael J. Fresina Takes the Helm at NASCAR Scene, NASCAR Illustrated and SceneDaily.com; First Marketing Director for Motorsports Group Joins the Team

Street & Smith's Sports Group announced today that Michael J. Fresina will take over as publisher for the Motorsports Group, home to two award-winning national magazines, NASCAR Scene and NASCAR Illustrated, as well as SceneDaily.com.

Fresina is a 1992 graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina where he majored in English Literature and Poetry. He began his career as an English teacher and football coach at Charlotte Country Day School. During his 7 years there, he freelanced as a speechwriter for professional athletes and came to know the management team at American City Business Journals, parent company to Street & Smith's Sports Group.

In 1998, Fresina joined their team as a summer intern. He was hired as a full-time employee the following year as a writer with Pro Magazine where he worked until being named Publisher of the company's fledgling Specialty Publications division in 2003, turning out one-off books and magazines. In 2006, Fresina was named Executive Editor of NASCAR Illustrated, and has since worked to expand the presence of the beloved NASCAR publication. Today, his efforts culminated in his promotion to Publisher of the Motorsports Group.

"Our publications and website have always delivered the best of NASCAR to the most dedicated fans in sports," said Fresina. "Now the challenge is to deliver in a tough economic climate while attracting an even broader audience." Fresina went on to say that he is more than up to the task. "I like winning, it's the competitor in me. The team here in Motorsports is designed to succeed. We will reach our goals."

Further enhancing the Motorsports team, Street & Smith's hired Patty Delk as its first-ever Marketing Director. Delk came to the group from Washington, D.C. where she was the Director of Account Service for a mid-sized strategic marketing and public relations firm servicing the luxury resort, real estate, golf and sports industries. "We're incredibly excited to have attracted someone at Patty's level and with her years of experience," said Fresina.

Both Fresina and Delk will call Street & Smith's corporate office home.
