Bacon Makin' The Difference In This Current Election!

Pretty much everyone knows that there's a BIG election going on in the U.S. right now between Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, who are currently competing with one another to win the Presidency of the United States!

OK, so maybe it's more like 30% of the population is aware of the election, but you can certainly bet that when all is said and done, probably more 25% of all eligible voters will have actively participated in the election process and cast a ballot on the issue!

Well, in the spirit of democracy, where people's votes have power to decide an election, a popular Capitol Hill burger joint known as "The Good Stuff Eatery" has joined in the electoral process to decide which delicious gourmet burger will be chosen as the newest addition to their permanent menu.

Owned and managed by Season 4 Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn and his family, the restaurant now is offering an Obama burger and a McCain burger on its menu. The folks at Good Stuff are keeping a tally to see which specialty burger wins the taste test of truth!

The Obama burger includes bacon, blue cheese, onion marmalade, and horseradish mayo and is described as tasty and mellow. "He's a very calm gentleman, but there is a lot of flavor in his campaign" explains Spike.

The McCain burger contains chipotle mayo, corn and roasted red pepper salsa, jack cheese, lettuce, and tomato with a taste that is described as spicy, maverick Tex-Mex.

Up to the point of the writing of this article, the current tally is Obama: 717 / McCain: 257. Why is Obama's burger so much more popular? It's simple. "Everybody loves bacon, and everybody loves blue cheese," says Spikes dad Harvey Mendelsohn. We here at Bacon Freak would have to agree!
