Letter to the Editor

I read your article, "New President, New Constitution, New Bill of Rights" today and was taken back by the backward thinking going on in the USA today.

All of the wealthy nations today with the exception of the USA have programs to help care for disadvantaged, seniors, and those in need.

You talk of Obama as being socialist; what a laugh.

In America they do not understand what socialism is.

A community center is socialism. Governments are socialism. The US Armed forces are socialism.

In other words socialism is people working together to provide for all.

Does that scare you?

The best system is a balance of socialism and free enterprise.

People working together where it is feasible, and desirable, and doing their own thing (free enterprise) where that is the best way.

Obama is definitely not a socialist. But he does believe that he can improve the quality of life for Americans, and also be a good neighbour to the rest of the world.

The path the USA is on these days is not sustainable.

The planet cannot provide any more.

* How dare you state Hugo Chavez is a Dictator*.

You are listening to much propaganda from Bush.

Chavez is more democratic than the USA where elections have been stolen, and electronic voting machines can be easily tampered with are used.

Chavez has won by a clear majority a number of times.

America has been a loose cannon since Bush came to power, and is opposed by most of the world including most of your former friends.

Wake up America!

The world wants the America we used to know and admire back.

I am a financier age 65 who does business all over the world.
