Judyth Piazza chats with Ezra Buzzington

Ezra Buzzington was born of necessity and lives life to the fullest. (The first part according to his mom, the second part according to his Pilates instructer.) Anyone looking deeper will be questioned late into the night. He sings. He acts. He dances. He had a cat once or twice but now has decided he's just too selfish to support anything other than pursuing his performing career in Los Angeles, Dammit. Ezra is actually older than he looks (though the exact age cannot be determined due to a tragic fire at Ball Memorial Hospital that destroyed nothing but Ezra's birth record. Coincidence?) On the stage he has played as young as twenty-five as recently as last year and as old as forty-something on television. He admits to Jack Benny's constant age (39) and leaves it at that.

Ezra Buzzington has a rich and varied personal and familial connection to the performing arts. His unique name comes from his maternal Grandfather's vaudevillian stage name: "Ezra Buzzington and His All Rube Band", and "Ezra Buzzington and The Hoosier Hotshots". (see photos) Ezra was raised in a theatrical family. His mother was an actress/poet/teacher, his father was an actor/writer/professor.

When Ezra moved to New York City from his home state of Indiana ("Where the cows come from"), he began what would become quite a successful and award-winning venture into directing, producing, and performing for the stage and cabarets in New York City ("Where the cows dress well"), Chicago ("Where the cows are slaughtered") , and Seattle ("Where the cows are wet and clueless"). His original work "Airstream" was awarded "Best of The Fest" at New City Theatre Director's Festival, as was his production of "Andy: The Red-nosed Warhola". His one man show "Letters To The Alien" has toured the New York-Chicago-Seattle circuit and will be performed in Los Angeles soon. Ezra also appeared in the much acclaimed "Buckets O'Beckett Festival" featuring Estelle Parsons (Oscar winner for "Bonnie and Clyde") and John Mahoney ("Frasier") in Chicago. He played Clov in Beckett's "Endgame". (Go To Reviews Page)

Now Ezra resides in Los Angeles, California. ("Where the cows are devoured by the sharks.")

Ezra is a member of Theatre of NOTE and has performed at The Actors' Gang, Highways Performance Space, The Hudson Theatre, the Los Angeles Theatre Center, and has appeared in the Anthony Newley role of 'Cocky' in the Sacramento Theatre Company's production of "The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd". His film credits include Terry Zwigoff and Dan Clowes' GHOST WORLD and ART SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL, Wes Craven and Alexandre Aja's THE HILLS HAVE EYES, Paul Thomas Anderson's MAGNOLIA with Tom Cruise, Juliane Moore and William H. Macy, David Fincher's FIGHT CLUB starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, and Wim Wender's MILLION DOLLAR HOTEL starring Mel Gibson. He has also worked with the Farrelly Brothers on their films SAY IT ISN'T SO starring Heather Graham and Chris Klein and ME, MYSELF AND IRENE with Jim Carrey and Renee Zellwegger. While shooting the Martin Scorsese produced RAIN in an incredibly dry Iowa with Melora Walters, Jamey Sheridan and Diane Ladd, he came upon a bunch of cows who were looking to find their way back to Indiana.

He pointed them east and ventured further westward.
