Zack And Miri Make A Porno Review

Can two porn stars find true love when out on their, well, first date baring it all for the cameras during the current financial crisis? Kevin Smith certainly hopes so with his simulated hardcore sex parody with a side dish of sentimentality, Zack And Miri Make A Porno.

Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks) are two Pittsburgh bottom feeder platonic pals who have been rooming together since graduating from high school a decade ago, while toiling at the local java joint dispensing designer coffee. When their utilities get turned off for nonpayment, stud geek Zack devise a plan to raise cash by putting a porn movie together, starring himself and Miri. This, after an embarrassing video shot on the sly with a coffeehouse customer's camera phone of Miri in her granny underwear, ends up on YouTube and is a smash hit.

The problem is that Zack and Miri are as comfortable with each other as any established married couple might be. So when the idea of simulated stranger sex with your monogamously inclined best buddy as a business venture presents itself, complicated issues like emotional attachment denial and jealousy when engaging in real sex with actual porn people for hire (Traci Lords, Katie Morgan), abound.

When initial plans for a play-on-words smutty production called Star Whores tank because the rancid garage they rent from an unscrupulous landlord is totaled by a wrecking ball, Zack get a brainstorm to relocate the set to their coffee shop after hour and rename the movie, Swallow My Cockuccino. But the essential taste test for this movie with audiences, is whether the Smith and Rogen extreme dirty talk juvenile antics blend to satisfaction with its avid truth-in-advertising porn lite adult fare.

There's also an odd turn of events in store, when Smith tosses in the notion of porn as potential foreplay to more impromptu, not to mention camera-shy true romance. (Weight worry wort Zack frets about getting too naked for the camera, because he fears his boobs may be bigger than hers). Not for the sexually squeamish but perhaps too mushy a turnoff for Smith fans not into 'pretty' porn with feeling, Zack And Miri Make A Porno's carnal coffeehouse comedy may not amount to a hill of beans for either.
