Bill Cosby Keynotes at Wayne County Community College District's District-Wide Conference Day

DETROIT, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Actor, comedian and activist Dr. Bill Cosby will be the keynote speaker atWayne County Community College District's (WCCCD's) District-Wide Conference Day, an annual one-day professional development event for District staff and faculty. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at Cobo Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The theme for this year's event is "Student Success: Everyone's Responsibility".

"The unstoppable momentum of this institution is due to the hard work and diligence of all of our faculty and staff members. This is a special one-day professional development event and an incredible opportunity to empower district members and celebrate the importance of continued learning and skill development," said Dr. Curtis L. Ivery, WCCCD Chancellor. "We are delighted that Dr. Bill Cosby, an international and well-respected figure, has agreed to be our keynote speaker. His efforts to empower people are truly commendable and coincide with WCCCD's mission of delivering educational services to help people build better lives."

Dr. Bill Cosby is a veteran entertainer and an activist. As an activist, Dr. Cosby encourages good parenting and asks that people empower themselves with education to become competitive in today's global environment.

During District-Wide Conference Day the college recognizes excellence and reaches out to all staff and faculty by engaging each constituency with professional development workshops. These hour-long workshops, conducted by experts and leaders in their fields, concentrate on special areas such as Leadership, Advising and Retention, Dual Enrollment and Communication. All conference attendees have the option of attending seminars that cover topics of their choice.

WCCCD is committed to the continued development of new programs, hosting more community-based training sessions, improving student facilities and services, upgrading technologies, making capital investments in massive building expansion projects, and training staff members to enhance their skills to maximize efficiency.
