How Dare Sarah Palin Declare: Election in God's Hands

By

"Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin describes herself as a 'hard-core pro-lifer' and expresses confidence that in spite of disheartening polls, 'putting this in God's hands, that the right thing for America will be done at the end of the day on Nov. 4.'

In an interview with evangelical leader James Dobson that aired Wednesday, Palin said she thought Republican presidential candidate John McCain would implement the GOP platform if elected - 'I do, from the bottom of my heart' - but McCain doesn't support the platform on three issues important to evangelicals: abortion, gay marriage and embryonic stem cell research." The Associated Press/ERIC GORSKI

The election is not in God's hands, it's up to us to study the issues and vote for the candidate who is best qualified to lead our country at this critical juncture in our history.

Evangelicals who have this "it's in God's hand" attitude are usually too lazy to examine the candidates' platforms, and vote based on superficial reasons. I've had more than one born again type tell me that he's going to vote for John McCain because his running mate is a Pentecostal. A person who votes for Palin because she's a Pentecostal instead of a Buddhist is as idiotic as someone who votes for Obama because he's a fan of the Chicago Cubs instead of the New York Yankees.

Obama is going to win in an electoral college landslide, according to Palin's reasoning I guess that means that the Almighty is a strong advocate of a woman's right to choose. I hope Palin remembers to thank God when Obama trounces McCain in the general election.

Palin is utterly clueless, you'd think she would know that McCain disagrees with the Republican platform on these three major issues. She must be too busy trying on designer outfits from Neiman Marcus to study McCain's stand on the issues.

Instead of granting interviews to evangelical leaders, Palin should do a sit-down with a journalist who has the guts to ask her why she injected religion into the campaign.
