Why The Lightship Came and Nobody Saw It

Case not (quite) closed!
It has come to my attention from reliable sources yet to be discovered that the Federation of Light lightship did in fact arrive and hover over Alabama on October 14th 2008.
This report came via a transmission from a group calling themselves The League of Colaptes auratus (LOCA) on the afternoon of October 14th. The transmission stated that a Lightship measuring approximately 7 millimeters across appeared over a grassy field in central Alabama and hovered there for approximately 1 minute before being mistakenly eaten by a LOCA member.
It is not known whether or not all members of the Federation of Light were on board the ship when it was consumed or not but since no further channels have been received it is feared so. LOCA did however issue an apology along with a description of the lightship as follows. It glittered with diamond like facets within a range of colors from magenta to marigold.
