RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) announces a special recycling license plate for the Commonwealth ofVirginia. In celebration of America Recycles Day on November 15th, the VRA is holding a special contest to reward people for purchasing the special interest plate.

All DMV applications received by November 15th will be entered into a drawing for a $100 prize. Applications and instructions are on the VRA website, http://www.vrarecycles.org.

"The plate will show support for recycling and raise awareness, which is critical to our efforts in the battle to keep valuable material resources out of our landfills. And people can feel proud that $15 of each $25 plate purchased will help fund programs and initiatives aimed at increasing opportunities for growing recycling inVirginia," said VRA spokesperson Erica Trout.

The VRA strongly encourages those who care about recycling to drive home the point by pre-purchasing a recycling license plate. "Some special interest license plates have taken years because it took that long to get the required 350 pre-paid applications," said VRA member Ken Mogul. "We hope people order now if they are interested in purchasing the plate, so we can keep the process moving. Our goal is to have the 350 pre-paid applications by the 2009 General Assembly session."

If your organization would like to help us promote the license plate contest, you can download a promotional sign, flyer and DMV application to help spread the word. For more info about the design contest or purchasing a license plate, go to: http://www.vrarecycles.org or call 804-302-4231.

The VRA was formed in 1990 by a group of individuals who are committed to expanding state recycling opportunities. Since its inception, the VRA has become the leading resource of recycling information for our members, the general public, the Virginia General Assembly, local government, business, and industry.

The VRA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to promote effective recycling and waste reduction methods in Virginia
