SEOUL, Korea andGAITHERSBURG, Md., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- GXS, a leading provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, today announced that Korea Telecom (KT) has selected GXS B2B software to support electronic data interchange (EDI)-based transactions for more than 200,000 corporate customers. As Korea's leading telecom operator, KT provides a wide range of services to corporations throughout Korea. KT has rapidly expanded its product portfolio beyond traditional data networking offerings to include e-commerce services and is leveraging GXS integration broker technology as the foundation for its EDI product line. KT is upgrading and expanding its deployment of GXS software into a high availability (HA) configuration to provide greater scalability and reliability for its EDI services.

In Korea, the National Bureaus of Health and Pensions require that any company with more than ten employees submit pension and health related documents via EDI. KT provides a turnkey solution that enables small and midsize businesses, many of which lack sophisticated EDI capabilities, to comply with the government's reporting requirements. Since 2000, KT has worked with GXS to provide EDI services to companies and government organizations. This deployment further extends the relationship between KT and GXS and ensures that KT can continue to meet the growing demand for EDI services among Korean companies.

"For us, our customers are both the corporations that are sending the data as well as the government bureaus that need to receive that data. We have an obligation and a desire to serve both those customers with high quality and consistency," said Sung-won Kim, manager of Service Development at KT. "GXS gives us the capacity we need to serve all our current and future customers in a high availability configuration. In addition, GXS' experience with EDI in Korea makes them a perfect partner in successfully meeting our customers' needs."

The GXS Enterprise Gateway family of products is a suite of integration broker software that enables corporations to conduct B2B e-commerce with their entire trading partner community. As a component of GXS' integration services platform, GXS Trading Grid(R), Gateways combine transaction routing, data translation and business process integration capabilities within a single system. GXS Enterprise Gateway includes a single unified platform that can easily manage current and future business integration needs; real-time supply chain visibility and optimization; and complete trading partner community connectivity.

"GXS and KT have enjoyed a strong and mutually-beneficial relationship for eight years now.
