Response to "Catastrophic Turbine Failure At Vermont Wind Farm Raises Doubt"
Wind energy is by far the least dangerous clean energy source mankind should exploit. It inundates no fertile soils, and poses no risk to downstream residents. It combusts no fuels, and creates no carbon dioxide or particulate contamination in the atmosphere. It does not pose a radiation risk. It is far more productive than solar panels. It does not require drilling miles below the surface or strip mining hundred of square miles of the planet, each year.
While wind turbine technology has yet to be made utterly risk free, equipment failure poses a miniscule hazard in comparison to any other power generation equipment except solar systems.
Safe sitting of wind turbines is a paramount concern, but the complaints of most critics should be seen for what they are: the attempts to preserve views (for which they do not want to be taxed) and to keep mankind dependent upon filthy and dangerous traditional power generation systems, that pollute the air, shred ecosystems and destroy the earth.
