PacketMotion Expands Insider Threat Management System to Include Windows File Permissions
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- PacketMotion, Inc. today
announced new PacketSentry system features that include a complete auditing
solution for access control permission changes on Windows file servers and
network attached storage (NAS) systems.
PacketMotion provides its customers with a unique solution: a way to gain
deep and broad visibility and control of user activity in corporate networks
with no risk to applications and almost no integration and support costs. The
PacketSentry solution has expanded its auditing capabilities to include
monitoring and reporting on changes to Windows file permissions to provide
greater visibility and reporting for insiders that include high-risk users
such as administrators who have complete access to file permissions, employee
records, and other vital customer and competitive information. This
complements existing functionality to audit Active Directory changes and
dormant user accounts, completing the elements required for a full Windows
access control audit solution.
Unlike other Windows access control auditing solutions, PacketSentry
requires no software agents or NAS application program interfaces that can
interfere with network performance. In addition, PacketSentry supports a broad
range of applications and protocols, including databases, Sharepoint, NFS,
Web, e-mail, file sharing, and much more.
"Our customers are telling us they want to move beyond point products for
tracking insiders and toward a single system that allows them to have a
broader, more effective way to identify and manage insider threats," said
Jonathan Gohstand, PacketMotion vice president of marketing. "We introduced
these new features because our customers need to audit Windows file permission
changes, and they specifically want to avoid relying on agents, or APIs, into
their network attached storage appliances that could impact performance."
The PacketSentry system tracks user behavior across all major server and
application platforms in an enterprise and delivers this detailed insight in a
format that managers and security staff can easily use.
PacketSentry is available inthe United States andCanada, and it can be
purchased directly from PacketMotion. Pricing starts at approximately
US$65,000, depending on the volume of network traffic monitored.
