PORTLAND, Maine, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- TD Banknorth announced today that it has extended hours in 280 branches and introduced round-the-clock live customer service, in an effort to make banking faster, easier and more convenient than ever for its customers.

In branches throughout New England and upstateNew York, TD Banknorth has made several enhancements to hours of operation in response to customer feedback. The bank has added more lobby and drive-through hours resulting in branches that are open earlier and longer -- as late as 8 p.m. in some markets. TD Banknorth has also introduced Saturday and Sunday hours in other markets for the first time.

In addition, all TD Banknorth customers now have access to live customer agents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through the company's direct banking call centers, and will receive the same high-quality service every hour of the day, every day of the year.

"We understand that consumers have so many choices for where they can do their banking, and yet so little time to do it," said Suzanne Poole, Executive Vice President of Personal Banking at TD Banknorth. "We've responded by making sure our branches are open when customers need them to be, and by having a real live person on the phone at any time that's most convenient for the customer. These enhancements are more great ways we're working to become America's Most Convenient Bank."
