Dex Expands Free Phone-based Search Solution Throughout Qwest Footprint
CARY, N.C., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dex has announced that
1-800-Call-Dex(TM) -- the company's award-winning voice-enabled search
solution -- is now available throughout the 14-state footprint where Dex is
the official directory for Qwest.
1-800-Call-Dex provides free, local category and business name search for
consumers seeking businesses. Consumers can use the service to connect
directly to local merchants and receive information about businesses via text
message. They can also search by specific business name and request live
operator assistance if necessary. The service was recently recognized for
"Excellence in Free DIS (Directory Information Services)" at The Pelorus
Group's DIS '08 summit inSavannah, Ga.
"1-800-Call-Dex enjoyed a successful test run inDenver,Phoenix, Spokane
andTucson, and we're proud to not only make it a permanent fixture in those
cities but introduce it to new areas as well," said Maggie Le Beau, senior
vice president and chief marketing officer for R.H. Donnelley. "Now,
consumers will be able to use our voice-enabled search solution -- along with
our print directories and DexKnows.com(TM) (http://www.dexknows.com), our
local online search site -- to connect with local businesses in their area."
Callers can dial 1-800-Call-Dex and simply reference a landmark,
neighborhood or intersection and receive information on businesses near their
current location or the location to which they are traveling. Plus, the
system updates frequently to reflect how locals refer to specific landmarks or
locations, guaranteeing that callers will always be able to find the
appropriate location -- even after that local sports complex or bank changes
its name.
New Features Make It Even Easier to Find Information
1-800-Call-Dex now offers new features that make it even easier for
consumers to find local businesses. Consumers in the four trial markets, plus
those in about 35 other major metropolitan areas, can now enjoy:
-- Business information sent via SMS text. Detailed information about
local merchants can be sent via text directly to a caller's phone, allowing
the caller to quickly and easily save the information with the press of a
button.
-- Enhanced business name search. Callers can search for businesses by
name, allowing them to find convenient locations and more.
-- Live operator assistance. Access to personal assistance agents who can
pinpoint local businesses that meet callers' needs.
1-800-Call-Dex has been enabled by Call Genie (TSX: GNE), a leader in
mobile search and local advertising solutions. The service utilizes two of
Call Genie products. One, Interact Voice, is an automated voice recognition
system that leverages unique hyper-location based search technology, allowing
callers to search based on local landmarks, intersections or neighborhoods.
Another, Open Mobile, enables callers to receive enhanced information such as
maps and directions rendered to the capabilities of their mobile phones. This
combination of products delivers a compelling user experience for callers and
highly relevant advertising opportunities for businesses.
