Letter to the Editor

The article "The Great Mortgage Swindle - The Taxpayers Lose Again" is very informing and I plan to research in much more detail to understand.

Several questions and concerns come to mind for John (author) in reading the article for the fourth and fifth times.

It seems that the word "force" is used quite often regarding the banking industry influence held by the corrupt organizations. As a publicly traded corporation, none of the banks could be forced by anyone to have made the bad judgments that they made. It was primarily "greed" by those banking institutions that led to their bad decisions, not the influence of the corrupt organizations and democratic officials.

The article seems to leave out the thoughts that Republican Presidents have been in place for 16 out of the last 24 years. They established priorities for the country that were focused on agenda other than the economic health of our country. Now all of a sudden it's the Democratic Party leadership's fault that we have economic disaster.

Let's take a look at what Republican leadership (or lack of it) has brought us: Mega mergers and a more favorable environment for larger corporations and takeovers An endless war in Afghanistan and Iraq (duel against the Axis of Evil) without proper research before pulling out the guns Allowing Outsourcing Practices from our largest corporations to take jobs overseas No child left behind makes us the joke of the world - disabling our education system from pushing our best and brightest forward (I know you'll blame Clinton for that one) No alternative fuel solution (subsidizing oil and auto industry bribes)

Let me clarify that I am a Republican who is searching for any reason to vote for my own party candidate. The fact that Sarah Palin and I are both runners is the only single thing I've found.

How are the above results and Republican path any less socialistic than what Obama proposes? As long as we have the democratic formula in place with congress and the President, this will not be a socialistic country. I don't see Obama changing that.

Reagan is the last President to have any gumption or to be able to influence others across the US and World. We have been in a downward trend for 16 years.

Thanks for your great article as it opened my eyes and I am hungry to learn more as a result.
