LA/Ontario International Airport Closes Parking Lot F

LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) officials today announced the closing of remote parking Lot F, located on the corner of Airport Drive and Vineyard Avenue. Effective Oct. 14, Lot F will close to public parking as part of the airport's plans to contain operational costs.

"Closing Lot F is projected to save the airport about $1 million annually in expenses," said Doug Kallemeyn, ONT's manager of Landside Operations.

Passengers who normally use Lot F are encouraged to park in Lot 5, located just east of Terminal 4. Lot 5 is priced lower than other on-airport lots at only $8 per day, and is within walking distance from Terminal 4. Free shuttle bus service that operates every 10 minutes is available to transport Lot 5 users to Terminal 2.

To access Lot 5 from Lot F, take Vineyard Ave. south and follow the road to the left as the street name changes to E. Moore Way. Take E. Moore Way to the end and turn right onto Airport Drive. Use Airport Drive, then turn right on Rental Car Road. Stay in the right lane and follow the road that curves right onto John Bangs Drive and continue west to the entrance of Lot 5. Turn right into Lot 5.

"Airport staff is looking at ways to reduce costs to the airlines that operate out of ONT," said Jess Romo, ONT's manager. "Closing Lot F will reduce costs and at the same time provide enough parking for travelers."

Other parking lots at ONT include Lots 2, 3 and 4. Lot 2 is directly across from Terminal 2. Lot 4 is directly across from Terminal 4. Lot 3 is located between Lot 2 and Lot 4. All of ONT's parking lots charge $2 per hour. Lots 2 and 4 have a $17 per day maximum rate. Lot 3 has a $12 per day maximum rate.

ONT is a medium-hub, full-service airport with commercial jet service to major U.S. cities and through service to many international destinations. ONT is located in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the center of Southern California. The airport is the centerpiece of one of the fastest-growing transportation regions in the United States. ONT's service area includes a population of six million people living in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties and portions of north Orange County and east Los Angeles County.

ONT is one of four airports owned and operated by LAWA, a Los Angeles City department that oversees an airport system in the nation's second largest metropolitan area. The other airports owned and operated by LAWA are and Los Angeles International Airports, LA/Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys General Aviation.
