"Vote for Stephen Harper and you get a leader whose first priority is an enormous tax cut for the banks and big oil companies," said Layton. "Vote for Stephane Dion, and you get a leader whose first priority is to impose a big carbon tax on your family."

"Vote for me, and you get a Prime Minister whose first priority is to look out for everyday working families like yours," said Layton.

The New Democrat leader attacked Harper's record, pointing to 400,000 lost manufacturing jobs, 5 million families without a doctor, and Harper's 'do-nothing' attitude to the worries of working Canadians for the security of their pensions and savings.

Layton called Mr. Dion "Mr. Harper's best friend over the past year" for the 43 times he supported Mr. Harper in the House of Commons.

The New Democrat leader concluded: "Elect me, and at long last, Canadians will have a government that puts everyday families FIRST."
