Wounded Warrior Project and Concurrent Technologies Corporation Announce a Web-Based System for the Veteran Disability Rating Process
JACKSONVILLE, Fl., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)
and Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) today announced the rollout of a
new web-based system to assist in the veteran disability rating process for
the severely injured returning from the current conflicts.
"This new system will immediately help us ensure the accuracy of every
veteran disability claim that we work on," said John Roberts, National Service
Director for Wounded Warrior Project. "It performs disability calculations,
checks the Code of Federal Regulations for veterans' benefits, and makes sure
that all aspects of a disability rating are considered."
The new system was designed and developed for WWP free of charge by CTC
with input from hundreds of County Veteran Service Officers and Wounded
Warrior Project personnel and alumni. Billy Lewis, the CTC project sponsor,
worked with the company's board of directors to secure the needed capital to
develop the system for WWP. "Our vision was to create a tool that could move
this complex process into the 21st Century -- from a cumbersome paper-based
process to an automated intuitive experience for the user," said Mr. Lewis.
"We surveyed a wide range of County Veteran Service Officers from across
the country to ensure the final system would meet their needs," stated CTC's
Michael Jensen, the project's lead system developer.
WWP service staff are currently beta-testing the system and will manage
and further develop it over time. The hope is that in the future, the new
system may be released to other organizations and eventually the veterans
themselves.
"We are evaluating the possibility of taking this directly to the
veterans," stated John Melia, Founder and Executive Director of WWP. "If we
can continue to hone the system and create a user friendly enough version,
veterans will be able to enter in their personal information and check their
benefit levels instantly. WWP seeks to honor and empower wounded warriors and
this system is another step along that path."
