Washington Republican economic policies have devastatedOhio over the past eight years, causing over 1,087 factories to shut down or have mass layoffs, costing over 180,000 jobs statewide.Cuyahoga County ranks number one in the numbers of jobs lost since George W. Bush took office, losing more than 30,000 jobs.
McCain's health care platform is equally devastating forOhio. According to the nonpartisan organization Factcheck.org, "McCain's plan to tax workers on the value of their employer-provided health care plans and provide tax credits would encourage some employers, mainly small businesses, to drop health benefits, say experts, and the proposal could eventually eliminate job-based insurance altogether." Doctors will also blast McCain's plan, which would make it harder for those who most need health care coverage to receive it and would wipe out important protections inOhio such as requirements to cover emergency care.
