Paso Robles Digital Film Festival Uncorks in Wine Country November 20-25 With Highlights Including a Tribute to Clint Eastwood, Music From The Bacon Brothers, The Kyle Eastwood Band, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and More
PASO ROBLES, Calif., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- In the heart ofCentral
California's "Cowboy Wine Country," the inaugural Paso Robles Digital Film
Festival (PRDFF.com) will take place Thursday, November 20 through Tuesday,
November 25. The theme for year one of what will be an annual festival
examining the film industry in the digital age is "Music in Film." Headlining
music acts include The Bacon Brothers (actor Kevin Bacon and his brother
Michael), folk legend Ramblin' Jack Elliott, the Kyle Eastwood Band, The
Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet and more.
PRDFF will be Webcast worldwide and filmed for a DVD under the auspices of
veteran event producer Benford Standley. In 1995, Standley produced one of the
first live multimedia Internet cybercasts, and has continued to incorporate
pioneering digital technologies into his projects and productions, which
include hundreds of events ranging from Wild West Shows to music and arts
festivals.
PRDFF highlights include: "Make My Saturday," a tribute to the musical and
cinematic genius of Clint Eastwood that includes screenings of the
Eastwood-directed Honkytonk Man (starring Eastwood and his son Kyle) and
Bronco Billy; the documentary Martin Scorsese Presents Clint Eastwood's Piano
Blues, produced by PRDFF advisor Bruce Ricker, who will moderate a panel on
Eastwood's company Malpaso; and a screening of the Ricker-directed Tony
Bennett: The Music Never Ends.
On Sunday, November 23, Academy Award-winning film editor Joel Cox will
receive PRDFF's "Paderewski Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to the
World of Music and Movies." Cox has worked with Eastwood for thirty years on
films including Bird, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Changeling and
Unforgiven, for which he won an Oscar.
In sync with the "Music In Film" theme, documentaries to be screened also
include: Martin Scorsese's The Last Waltz, the Bob Dylan documentary No
Direction Home, D.A. Pennebaker's Dont' Look Back, Jonathan Demme's Neil
Young: Heart of Gold, Festival Express, Crazy, Blues Accordin' To Lightin'
Hopkins, Los Lonely Boys: Cottonfields and Crossroads and Ballad of Ramblin'
Jack. Many filmmakers will be in attendance.
Also featured will be 3-D Films and an art show and roundtables held at
Martin & Weyrich Winery and in various locations inPaso Robles -- "Cowboy
Wine Country just South and Sideways of Sundance."
