Charlestown's Sherry Parrish Appears on ABC-TV's "Good Morning, America"
Host of RLTV's "What's Next?" Offers Advice on How Adult Children Can Talk to Their Parents About Finances
CATONSVILLE, MD-Sherry Parrish, Resident Life Director at Charlestown Retirement Community and host of Retirement Living TV's (RLTV) Emmy award-winning "What's Next?" program, was today featured as an expert guest on Good Morning, America.
Making her second appearance on the ABC morning show in 2008, Parrish discussed ways in which family members can make sure their parents are financially prepared for retirement with co-host Robin Roberts.
According to Parrish, communication is vital. "One of the first things you should do is pick up the phone and call. They may not want to burden you with their problems. It is important to have open and honest conversation," stated Parrish.
Parrish also advised adult children to work with their parents on selecting community groups or other reputable financial planners who can offer expert advice that can be applied to specific situations. She noted that those seniors living in retirement communities benefit from predictability of expenses.
A certified social worker, Parrish has served as Director of Resident Life at Charlestown since1996. As host of RLTV's "What's Next?," Parrish travels the nation to assist those making the transition from the workforce into retirement. The program won a Regional Emmy Award in the category of Arts & Entertainment in June, 2008. Parrish has also been nominated for the Best Host of the Year by the Cable Ace Awards.
Parrish resides in Ellicott City, Maryland with her husband and daughter.
