Albertson's LLC Blends Social Awareness and Style to Stimulate Customers' Reusable Bag Habit

The new totes enhance the company's "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" customer-education campaign, which includes in-store plastic bag recycling, reminders to bring in the reusable bags from the car and a continued commitment to reduce plastic consumption throughout the store. Last year, Albertson's LLC recycled over 1.7 million pounds of plastic and over 35 tons of cardboard.

"Our customers are aware of environmental issues, but often reusable shopping bags are left at home or forgotten in the car, which negates their usefulness," said Mike Withers, Vice President of Marketing. "We're excited to offer more than the usual generic bag with just a company logo on it. These totes are fun and something our customers can be proud to carry."

Totes will retail for $1 and for one week only, shoppers will receive a free tote with the purchase of select items such as French bread, bagged salad, eggs or shredded cheese.
