Revised Location: NASA Astronaut Encourages Teachers to 'Build a Presence'

HOUSTON, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NASA astronaut Mike Fossum will take time off from his technical duties at the Johnson Space Center inHouston to visit with science teachers during the Nebraska Association of Teachers of Science 2008 Fall Conference.

Fossum's presentation starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Camp Calvin Crest-Proett Center, 2870 Country Road 13, Fremont. The event is open to the media.

During the keynote address, Fossum will discuss his recent mission to the International Space Station and the importance of science in children's education to coincide with the theme of this year's conference, "Building a Presence."

Fossum, a native South Dakotan, is a veteran of two spaceflights. On June 14, Fossum completed his second trip to the space station aboard space shuttle Discovery. He has logged more than 636 hours in space, including more than 42 hours during six spacewalks.
