Capella Announces Two Senior Executive Appointments

Prepares for Rapid Product Distribution Around the Globe

Capella Intelligent Subsystems, the leader in wavelength management subsystems for use in reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADM) and optical cross connect (OXC) applications, today announced two key senior executive appointments, effective immediately. Jaime Reloj has been named vice president of global sales and marketing and Ken Falta is now vice president of business development and product line management.

The executive appointments follow a successful transition to high volume production of the WP4500 product line and new customer acquisitions and underscore Capella's strategy to distribute and support products on a global basis.

"We continue to expand our resources to support our aggressive growth and market penetration in the fast growing ROADM market," said Larry Schwerin, Capella's chief executive officer. "Capella is investing significantly to enhance its customer support and accelerate our distribution of industry leading solutions to the market. We look forward to Jaime and Ken's contributions to lead the company into this next stage of our growth."

As Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing, Jaime Reloj is charged with overseeing all facets of Capella's international expansion including sales, business development, product marketing and customer service. Prior to joining Capella, Reloj held executive and management roles at Avanex, ColorChip, and Fujitsu. He has built successful global sales channels around the world including North America, Japan, Korea, China and Europe -- a talent he will leverage to support Capella's next phase of international expansion. During his 16 year career working at start-ups as well as Fortune 100 organizations, Reloj received multiple awards and accolades for exemplary sales and management performance. Reloj is a graduate from the University of San Francisco holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Accounting.

Ken Falta has 15 years of experience in leadership roles at the forefront of the optoelectronics and telecommunications industry with responsibilities encompassing business development, marketing and management. As the new Vice President of Business Development and Product Line Management, Ken Falta will lead product planning and business development activities as the company strengthens and broadens its product and technology offerings around the globe. Prior to this new position, Falta was Capella's vice president of sales where he directed the development and implementation of marketing and operations. Before joining Capella, Falta was responsible for worldwide OEM sales at Glimmerglass, Inc. and OMM, Inc. At Lucent Technologies Optoelectronics Division and General Instrument (now Motorola), Falta developed and managed product strategy for telecommunications, CATV and datacom markets. Falta has a BSEE from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
