No Expensive Haircuts for the World's Best Hockey Player
VIENNA, Va., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Although he signed the richest
contract in National Hockey League history (13 years for $124 million),
Washington Capitals league MVP Alexander Ovechkin continues to visit his local
Hair Cuttery for a low cost hair cut. His appreciation for a stylish trim at
a great price earned him a Hair Cuttery endorsement contract and new ad
campaign that launches today and is featured at www.oviestyle.com.
Fans will begin to see the left winger's image in Internet ads that will
appear throughout the Capitals hockey season and run on sports and
entertainment web sites.
The "Most Valuable Haircut" banner ads link fans to Hair Cuttery's
Ovechkin microsite www.oviestyle.com which features behind-the-scenes videos
and images of Ovechkin at his Hair Cuttery photo shoot, hockey tips, grooming
and hair care advice, as well as wallpapers and other Ovechkin downloads.
Also in the D.C. market, Ovechkin ads will appear during the season on the
sides of Metrobuses and Metrobus shelters. A mobile billboard will cruise the
streets surrounding the Verizon Center at 36 Washington Capitals games between
October and April including the Oct. 11 home opener vs. the Chicago
Blackhawks. The Hair Cuttery ads feature the lines: "Alexander The Great
Haircut;" "What He Is To Hockey, We Are To Hair;" and "Most Valuable Hair."
Ovechkin is a regular customer at the Hair Cuttery in the Ballston Common
Mall, located adjacent to the Kettler Capitals Iceplex inArlington, Virginia
where the Washington Capitals train and practice.
"Ovie is a loyal Hair Cuttery customer because he knows he can drop in
whenever he wants for an affordable and stylish cut that's close to his home
and the practice rink," said Dennis Ratner, Hair Cuttery founder and CEO.
"Those are the same benefits we offer to all our customers: an MVP cut that's
convenient to where you live and work for a price that's less than a box of
hockey pucks."
The Hair Cuttery Ovechkin campaign is being developed by TBC Advertising &
Public Relations inBaltimore.
"Alex has a personality that really appeals to the everyday sports fan,"
said Allan Charles, TBC chairman and creative director. "He may be a
multi-millionaire, but he still appreciates a good hair cut that's affordable
and doesn't take more than a half-hour out of his schedule."
