Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands, NC Announces the Purchase of the Highlands Cove Golf Course, Clubhouse and Peregrine Restaurant
HIGHLANDS, N.C., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Highlands Cove course and
clubhouse will close to the public on November 3, 2008 and re-open as "Old
Edwards Club" mid-May 2009 following renovations designed to bring the
amenities in line with the current Old Edwards offerings. The private "Old
Edwards Club" will feature limited invitation-only memberships that include
full privileges on all Old Edwards amenities, including its state-of-the-art
fitness center, world-class spa and outdoor heated mineral pool. A swimming
pool will also be added to the Old Edwards Club during renovations. Other
planned improvements include:
-- Rebuilding and laser-leveling all tees
-- Reworking several holes
-- Beautification and some softening of the course
-- Improving the driving range and enlarging tees and greens
-- Improving Drainage
-- Renovating the Club House
-- Updating Tennis Courts
-- Enhancing the Restaurant Experience
The 6,699-yard, par 71 Bent-grass course at Highlands Cove was built by
Tom Jackson ofGreenville, SC, in 2000 and offers panoramic views and
challenging holes for players of all levels. The 15,000 square-foot,
full-service clubhouse includes men's and ladies' lockers and a fully stocked
golf pro shop.
