The Choice Is Harper or Layton
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA - (Marketwire - Sept. 27, 2008) - At a rally of cheering supporters, New Democrat Leader Jack Layton blasted Stephen Harper as bad for working families and bad for British Columbia.
"He sold out B.C. with his softwood lumber raw deal," Layton said. "He doesn't care if you don't have a job, or a family doctor, or you can't make ends meet."
Layton attacked Harper's lack of vision for the country. "He took the entire net fiscal room of our national government, and gave it to who he truly believes need it most: Canada's most profitable corporations. Fifty billion of your hard-earned tax dollars to companies already wallowing in record profits."
Unlike Harper, New Democrats will deliver on more important issues, like ensuring every Canadian has access to a doctor, good quality affordable child care, cancelling the unfair softwood lumber deal, and caring for our seniors.
Layton praised the leadership of Carole James, leader of the BC New Democrats and the next Premier of British Columbia.
"It's New Democrats who are setting the agenda in this campaign," Layton said. "That's why Stephen Harper is campaigning so hard out here. He has to beat us here. Or we'll beat him everywhere."
"If you want to stop Harper, only New Democrats can do it. The choice is Jack Layton or Stephen Harper."
