Pro-Indian Leader Killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 25: A pro-Indian Kashmiri leader was shot dead by suspected militants in North Kashmir on Thursday.
Police sources said that suspected militants fired from point blank range towards pro-Indian Kashmiri leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Dangiwacha, Rafiabad in North Kashmir. He received critical injuries to his head and was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him "dead on arrival"
The deceased identified as Ghulam Muhammad Mir, was zonal president of PDP in North Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that the deceased was offered police protection by the police but he had refused in writing to have any kind of protection for him.
No militant group has owned the responsibility of the killing.
This is the first strike targeting pro-Indian Kashmiri leader after the recent mass uprising in Kashmir.
