Kount officials say patent number 7,330,871 "Online Machine Data Collection and Archiving Process," describes a method for identifying a customer computer involved in an online transaction via a merchant website.

"An important step in combating fraud is accurate identification of computers that customers are using to make transactions, and associating such identities with transactions that arouse suspicions or which ultimately turn out to be fraudulent," said Steven W.
