Berkeley Mills Introduces the Lambda Table
A Table Worthy of Generations of Use
Always in style, well-crafted wood furniture
is versatile and stunning at the same time. Yet all wood is not created
equal, nor is all wood furniture. There is furniture that quickly and
efficiently furnishes a space, and then there's furniture that nurtures the
soul and the environment in which it is placed, like furniture created by
Berkeley Mills, renowned for its exquisite, hand-crafted wood furnishings.
In a collaborative effort, the artists, designers and engineers at Berkeley
Mills introduce a much anticipated new product to its already substantial
line of heirloom furniture, the Lambda Table.
Created to complement Berkeley Mills' critically acclaimed Lambda Chair,
the new Lambda Table offers a modern twist on the classic, mid-century
Danish motif. This sleek, substantial table mirrors the subtle interplay
between the organic curves and angular planes found in the legs and
backrest of the Lambda Chair.
According to Gene Agress, CEO and founding craftsman of Berkeley Mills,
"Our Lambda Chairs are some of our most popular, and I am certain the new
Lambda Table will be met with the same appeal. The design characteristics
are stunning and timeless, balancing purity of lines with functional
purpose enriching any room in which it is placed."
The Lambda table is inspired by the Greek alphabet letter lambda, lending
its shape to the lines of an elegant, yet sophisticated table. Pure
simplicity, the graceful animated lines of the table give a sense of
exceptional design and quality adding style and tranquility to any
environment. Its graceful curves are made possible by a unique
intersection of mortise and tenon joinery that allows the legs of the table
to bloom in a sinuous arc from a single, central core. This ingenious feat
of engineering results in a strong and stable table that is a work of art,
enduring and satisfying for generations.
Unlike most other furniture makers, Berkeley Mills engages in a very
detailed process with the customer, creating pieces that are made-to-order
specifically for each customer. From start to finish, the customer is part
of the process, working with the designers and other members of the team to
make exactly the piece the customer is looking for -- a piece that will
last for generations as a work of art.
In harmony with the made-to-order process comes the material from which all
Berkeley Mills products are made. Central to all its work is the wood from
which the handcrafted masterpieces are created. Starting with a firm
commitment to environmentally sound manufacturing and the finest wood
available, much of the wood Berkeley Mills uses comes from Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC) certified sources, a designation which supports
forestry that meets the highest standards for environmentally responsible
harvesting. The Lambda Table is currently offered in two beautiful woods,
FSC Eastern American Walnut and FSC Cherry.
The Lambda Table sells for $3,200.00 and each Lambda Chair is $1,980.00.
The table is 42" round and is also available in 54" and 60". The chair
measures 33"Hx22"Wx231/2"D.
All Berkeley Mills pieces are available exclusively through their Berkeley,
California showroom with national and international shopping available. The
company's capabilities are comprehensive. They include residential and
commercial design for custom projects ranging from built-in cabinetry for
kitchen, baths and other rooms to architectural elements like doorways as
