Abby Wambach Youth Soccer Clinics Set For October 3 And 4

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. andBOW, N.H., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- MVP Health Care announced today that registration is open for Olympic Gold Medal winner Abby Wambach's free youth soccer clinics scheduled for October 3 inEssex Junction, Vt. and October 4 inBow, N.H. The clinics, conducted as a public service by MVP Health Care, are free, but registration is required and is on a first-come-first-served basis via the health plan's KidPower Web site, www.MVPKidPower.com.

The Abby Wambach Youth Soccer Clinics are scheduled as follows, and all registrations must be made online at the KidPower Web sites.

    Friday October 3
    Champlain Valley Exposition
    105 Pearl St.
    Essex Junction, Vt.
    7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    Saturday October 4
    FieldHouse Sports
    12 Tallwood Drive
    Bow, N.H.
    3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Ms. Wambach was a member of the 2004 U.S. women's team that won the women's soccer gold medal inAthens. She broke her leg in the final exhibition game earlier this year betweenthe United States andBrazil and was unable to participate in the team's gold medal victory inBeijing. Wambach has scored 99 goals in international competition.

"My rehabilitation program has been progressing very well, and I am thrilled that I will be able to participate in these youth soccer clinics," Wambach said. "And, while I am disappointed that I was not able to be a part of the U.S. National Team's Olympic Medal efforts, I am so very proud of the team's performance. I look forward to being with my Vermont and New Hampshire fans in October."

Wambach has conducted youth soccer clinics, reaching more than 8,000 young people on behalf of MVP Health Care and its operating subsidiary Preferred Care. The 2008 schedule of clinics is the first to include appearances inVermont andNew Hampshire.
