The Biometric Consortium Conference and Technology Expo will be held at the Tampa Convention Center September 23-25, 2008. Supported by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National
Security Agency (NSA), the Biometric Consortium Conference will focus on biometric technologies for homeland security, identity management, border crossing, electronic commerce, and other applications.
Biometrics involves the study of methods for uniquely recognizing humans based upon one or more physical or behavioral traits. The conference sessions, focusing on U.S. Government Research Educational and International Industry Standards Technology Innovations will involve internationally recognized experts in biometric technologies, system and application developers, IT business strategists, and government and commercial officers. Speakers will address how biometrics are being used in industry and government to identify employees and to control access to buildings and computers, as well as in transportation, border control and national identity cards. Advances in technologies including facial recognition and voice verification will be discussed.
