In the 2008 season, the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League made their fourth playoff appearance since the team was brought toNew York in 2001. Following their appearance in the Eastern Division Finals against eventual Arena Bowl Champions the Philadelphia Soul, the AFL Board of Directors approved the transfer of ownership of the Dragons from Islanders owner Charles Wang to a NY-based investment group led by Steven Silva. The Dragons new Board of Directors consists of Jets Safety Kerry Rhodes, Giants Linebacker Danny Clark and Francis Cuttita of Dreier LLP.

The Dragons play at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and their season runs from March through June. Dragons training camp first day of training camp takes place on Super Bowl Sunday. The Dragons roster features All-Arena QB Aaron Garcia and All-Arena DB Billy Parker.
