IED Attack Kills Local Service Station Owner

Multi-National Division - Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD - An improvised explosive device exploded in the Rusafa security district of Baghdad killing an Iraqi civilian, Sept. 21.

The IED was detonated at approximately 10:26 a.m. near Babil. The civilian killed in the attack was a local service station owner with no known political affiliations.

"This attack specifically targeting local civilians is a horrific practice and a show of desperation by these criminals," said Maj. Joey Sullinger, spokesperson, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.

"We offer our condolences to the family of this local businessman and we encourage the citizens of Iraq to continue their cooperation with Iraqi Security Forces in bringing criminals to justice. With the continued help from the local community we can stop these militants from hurting any other innocent civilians and put an end to these horrific tactics."
