Man-Eater Leopard Kills Minor Girl in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sept 20: A five year old girl was mauled to death by a man eater leopard in Kashmir on Saturday.

A police spokesman said that the leopard attacked two child at Khaipora Tangmarg in North Kashmir. Hearing the cries and shrieks of the children, people rushed to the spot and seeing large number of people, the leopard escaped to the woods, leaving the two children in pool of blood.

The villager rushed the injured children to the hospital, where a five year old girl was declared "dead upon arrival" by the doctors. The girl was identified as Shagufta, 5, daughter of Abdul Ahad Wani.

The girl was the sixth child mauled to death in past couple of months by the man-eater leopard in North Kashmir.

The wild animals have been frequently moving towards habitat areas and attacking people. Scores of people have lost their lives in the animal attacks.

An official of Wildlife department said that they are working out an elaborate plan to stop the human-animal conflict.
