Bechtel Awarded Contracts to Operate Bettis, Knolls Laboratories

The five-year contracts with the Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command are valued at $6 billion. BMPC will assume operation of the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories on Feb. 1, 2009 following a four-month transition period.

BMPC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI). The Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, with locations inPittsburgh, PA; Idaho Falls, ID; andCharleston, SC, is currently operated by Bechtel Bettis, Inc. The Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, inSchenectady, NY, is currently operated by KAPL, Inc., a Lockheed Martin company.
