PersonalNumber.com launch free Follow-Me service ditching traditional 070 prefix

London UK - 18th September 2008,

Today saw the launch of a refreshingly free mobile Personal Number service, uniquely not involving the traditional and expensive 070 prefix.

The service sometimes referred to as "follow me" numbers is available at www.PersonalNumber.com. Instead of the 070 numbers, the company provides a free UK +44 mobile number which can be forwarded to any mobile phone or landline in the UK or US at no cost to the end user. The company says additional countries will be added shortly.

Customers can register online, and instantly be issued their very own personal number. After logging in, free call forwarding can be set up to five numbers. The call divert can be changed by logging onto the website anywhere in the world. There is zero cost to sign up, no contract, and no fees payable at any time. A free voicemail to email facility is also provided.

Typical customers include ex-pats, off-shore businesses looking to service UK customers, and anyone who wishes to keep their home or regular mobile number private. UK companies with offices in the US can call their American colleagues at no cost, as the personal numbers are included in most tariff bundled minutes.

The privacy afforded by the service is ideal for individuals who need to publish a phone number in conjunction with printed or online classified advertisements - or when using any form of dating service.  Since callers never dial your actual mobile or home number, your anonymity is ensured.  Since calls can be pointed to any convenient phone - such as your home, business, or mobile - users are less likely to miss an important call.

PersonalNumber.com encourages safety first. For tentative first meetings, users can relay their personal number, safe in the knowledge that their real contact telephone numbers remain hidden, until they feel trusted enough to divulge them.
