Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc. Announces Grand Opening Celebration at Its Superior, Iowa Ethanol Plant

Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRE) (AMEX: GPRE) will host a grand opening celebration at its ethanol
plant in Superior, Iowa, on Saturday, September 20, 2008. The festivities
will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and include food and refreshments
courtesy of local livestock producers. Congressman Steve King will speak at
a dedication ceremony, which begins at noon. Attendees will also have the
opportunity to take guided tours of the plant.
"Green Plains is very proud of the Superior ethanol plant," said Wayne
Hoovestol, Chief Executive Officer. "The facility commenced operations
just over two months ago. The grand opening celebration was scheduled at
this time to accommodate area producers that may be interested in touring
the plant before the start of harvest season. We encourage all interested
parties to attend in order to learn more about ethanol production."

service businesses in close proximity to the Superior plant," continued
