New Osher Inn Assisted Living Facility Dedicated
NEWTON, Mass. andPORTLAND, Maine, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Constantine L.
Tsomides, AIA, design principal of Tsomides Associates Architects Planners, of
Newton, MA (http://www.tsomides.com), participated in the recent
ribbon-cutting ceremony for the dedication of the Osher Inn, a new
state-of-the-art Assisted Living residence inPortland, Maine, which was
designed by Tsomides. The new Osher Inn is the final phase of the Cedars
Retirement Community campus, sponsored by the Jewish Home for Aged of
Portland.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on September 2, 2008, with guests
of honor philanthropist andMaine native Bernard Osher and his wife, Barbro,
Chairman of the Bernard Osher Foundation. The Bernard Osher Foundation,
headquartered inSan Francisco, was founded in 1977 by Bernard Osher, a
respected businessman and community leader. The Foundation seeks to improve
quality of life through support for higher education and the arts. The
Foundation provides post-secondary scholarship funding to colleges and
universities across the nation, with special attention to reentry students. It
also benefits programs in integrative medicine inthe United States and
Sweden, including centers at the University of California, San Francisco and
Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital inBoston.
Tsomides' earlier designs for Cedars include the Atrium at Cedars
Retirement Community, recipient of a National Association of Home Builders
First Prize Gold Award and was published in theTokyo, Japan hardcover book,
"Retiring In Style Around The World," in 2006.
Tsomides, who founded Tsomides Associates in their Newton Upper Falls
offices in 1988, is a graduate of The Harvard Graduate School of Design,
Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation and Bowdoin
College.
