Attention Entertainment and News Editors

Earlier this month, velvet-voiced crooner, Russell deCarle and his enduring country music outfit, Prairie Oyster earned one of country music's top honours with their induction to the Canadian County Music Hall of Fame. deCarle along with this year's Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee, Rik Emmett, mesmerizing singer/songwriter Damhnait Doyle, and renowned multi-instrumentalist Andrew Craig will, for the first time in their illustrious careers, take the stage together for LET IT BE: The Beatles Songs of Lennon & McCartney. A concert event created to celebrate the 20th Century's most important songwriting partnership, Let it Be takes place at Roy Thomson Hall on Saturday, October 4th, followed by an encore performance at Ottawa's National Art Centre on Wednesday, October 8th.

During their 11-year partnership, John Lennon and Paul McCartney co-wrote an astonishing 23 No. 1 singles, and changed the voice of popular music forever. No songwriting duo ever - or since - has made such an indelible imprint not only on people around the world but also across generations. Some of their collaborations are arguably among the greatest songs ever-written. Yesterday, In My Life, Eleanor Rigby, Let It Be, Hey Jude and Magical Mystery Tour are just a few of the Lennon/McCartney gems that will be revisited during this homage to these legendary songwriters.

Far from a Beatles tribute, Let it Be: The Beatles Songs of Lennon & McCartney features an outstanding ensemble of Canadian vocalist alongside some of Canada's best touring and studio artists. The extraordinary 10-piece Day Tripper Band includes: Glen Wyard (lead guitar), Kevin Fox (cello), Drew Jereka (violin) Blake Manning (drums), Maury LaFoy (bass), Kevin Adamson (keyboards), Cindy Fairbank (keyboards) and Marcus Ali (saxophone) and Brendan Cassin (trumpet). Musical Director Fergus Hambleton, best known as Sattalites' front man, lends his own talents on rhythm guitar and vocals.

Produced by Phil Bathols and Andrew McKinnon, Let it Be was an unprecedented hit in their native Australia. Featuring a lineup of some of their country's beloved vocalists, including the legendary Leo Sayer, Let it Be: Australia gave audiences a unique chance to re-live the Beatles' music with the help of multitalented artists who lent their style and vocal ability to some of the most famous lyrics, and who shared their own personal and captivating connections to the music of Lennon and McCartney, creating an unforgettable concert event.
